What is the corporation tax rate?
The small profits rate is 19% for profits of £50,000 or less, and the main rate is 25% for profits over £250,000. Profits in between pay tax at an effective rate in between, through marginal relief. These limits are reduced if your company has associated companies.
When do I pay corporation tax?
Most small and medium‑sized companies pay nine months and one day after the end of their accounting period. The company tax return (CT600) is due 12 months after the end of the period.
Does a new company need to register for corporation tax?
Yes. A new company must register for corporation tax within three months of starting to do business.
