FAQs

Questions we’re often asked

Can’t find your answer? Talk to an adviser.

What are the CIS deduction rates?

20% for registered subcontractors, 30% for those not registered, and nothing for subcontractors with gross payment status.

When are CIS returns due?

Monthly, by the 19th of each month, for the tax month ending on the 5th. Returns are due even when no payments were made unless you tell HMRC you are inactive.

Can I get CIS deductions back?

Yes. Limited companies offset them against their PAYE bill or claim a refund; sole traders set them against their Self Assessment tax.
